Based in Edinburgh, I'm a technology enthusiast who loves to architect and build robust, scalable systems. With over 20 years in the industry, I've had the privilege of collaborating with talented teams in diverse environments, from nimble FinTech startups to large-scale enterprises.
I enjoy working with microservices, modern API design, and cloud-native technologies. What truly motivates me is tackling a complex challenge and seeing a project through from idea to execution. I believe in continuous learning and improvement, both for myself and for the teams I work with. I've also enjoyed sharing what I've learned by writing for publications like Baeldung, connecting with the wider developer community.

- Led and mentored a team of 10+ engineers while remaining a hands-on contributor, developing and shipping production code daily using Java and Spring Boot.
- Architected and implemented a platform-wide migration to a modern event-driven system, utilizing Kafka for asynchronous processing and WebSockets for real-time client updates.
- Designed and built high-throughput, low-latency Spring Boot microservices for critical payment-processing paths, significantly improving system stability.
